Rim Fire threatens more homes

     August 21, 2013:
The Rim Fire was shown this morning live on Channel 3, and the flames were absolutely
devastating to look at in the Stanislaus National Forest.

Most people feel that the USFS does not do enough to suppress fires early on, and then they grow out of control.

There are many questions as to why this fire was allowed to get to this point, where not only countless wild animals have been burned alive, but now people and their homes are threatened.

Evacuation centers have been set up at the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds in Sonora for people in the Buck Meadows and Ferretti road areas.

The fire jumped Hwy 120 and the Clavey River and is headed up the mountainside. It is only 5% contained and has so far burned 16,228 acres.  The Hwy 120 access to Yosemite had to be closed.
