Per USFS, the total acres burned by the Rim Fire as of 7 AM on August 30, 2013 is 201,894 acres or 315 square miles.
Containment is 32%, 11 homes have been destroyed and the cause is still under investigation (there was no lightning at that time).
The cost of fighting this fire is now $47 million. Nearly 5000 firefighters are assigned to this fire. Many backfires have been intentionally lit to try and keep the fire from destroying the Sequoias at Yosemite National Park.
The entire Groveland Ranger District and the Mi-Wok Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest are closed.
