August 28, 2013 at 6 PM: Firefighters used aerial ignitions today to burnout Pilot Ridge on the
Southern end of the Rim Fire in Tuolumne County.
An additional burnout planned on Tioga Rd inside Yosemite were abandoned due to conditions that would have prevented containment of that type of fire.
192,466 acres or 301 square miles are the new totals burned. Containment has risen to 30% . The cost is now $39.2 million.
Mandatory evacuations have been order for residences north of Old Yosemite Road.
