The Raisin law of 1937?

Did you know that there was a 1937 law still on the books that the USDA can confiscate 47% of a
farmers raisin crop each year  to "hold in reserve," thus manipulating the supply and market price of raisins?

Now we know why the US Forest Service has such bad and hurtful policies. They are under the USDA too!

The 47% the farmers have confiscated by the USDA, are ultimately sold to foreign byers at minimal cost or given to the public schools. The farmers are given a pittance of the value, if  anything at all.

One couple has sued, based on the 5th Amendment that the government cannot seize your property without fully compensating you.

We have been told that many raisin farmers have now lost their land because they could not make enough money to survive after the government took 47%.

We only became aware of this because Jon Stewarts comedy channel TV show was making fun of the fact that it was a court case about raisins in last nights episode.

I want to know if the USDA takes 47% of the clear-cut forests from those owners, too and if not, why not?
