September 11, 2013 at 8 AM: Without any police support, construction workers are trying to direct traffic at the intersection
of Hwy 4 and Hwy 49 this morning.
If you are coming down Hwy 4 from Murphys, you would be better off turning and going through downtown Angels Camp, as most of the intersection is blocked off.
The people directing traffic have no clue how to go about it, and apparently Caltrans is allowing them to whatever they want. Trying to turn right to go to San Andreas is a nightmare, and we saw many make a U-turn in the middle of Hwy 4 and go back.
Now Hwy 49 is backed up from the signal at Hwy 4 to the Angels Camp City limits.
