Rim Fire Update September 22, 2013

   .6 inch of rain fell on the Rim Fire yesterday and Hwy 120 had to be closed due to snow for part of the day.

   In spite of the rain the containment remains the same at 84% and the total acreage increased to
257,097 acres or 401 square miles.

   As expected, the rain did cause some rock and mud slides in the fire area as erosion occurred in the burned out areas, and debris came onto roads. 

    The rain has stopped and crews are working to increase the containment level.
