Robert John Maghy
Robert John Maghy passed away in Valley Springs on September 5, 2013. He was 92.
A native of Canada, he was born June 15, 1921. He served in the Army during WWII and was an aerospace engineer for McDonnell Douglas for 30 years.
Robert loved gardening, woodworking, model airplanes and upholstery. He built the family's ski boat from the ground up.
In his younger years, he had coached Little League and he loved to travel. He was a big USC fan and loved watching his grandchildren play volleyball, baseball, soccer and football.
Robert was an ardent dog lover and would often take long walks with every dog in the neighborhood in tow. There wasn't a dog that didn't love him.
Most of all, his greatest love was for his family. He is survived by his wife Joan Maghy and children Bob Maghy (Becky), Steve Maghy (Sophia), Cathy Nilsen (Leif) and grandchildren Scott, Michael, Tatiana, Tony, Chris, Joanna, Michael, Erik, Cameron, Kyra and Annah.
A private family service will be held. Donations can be made to your local Humane Society or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
The family would like to thank Carrie Eisenmann for the wonderful, loving care she gave Robert.
