Betty was born in Anaheim June 6, 1926 to Albert and Mary Vett. She passed away October 3, 2013.
She met her husband Tom when she moved into his neighborhood in 1940. Shortly after he enlisted in 1941, his mother asked Betty to write him and so began the relationship that would last for more than 69 years of marriage.
They married on January 2, 1944 while Tom was home on leave. Throughout her life, Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, seamstress and solid foundation for her family.
As a devout Catholic, she taught catechism and became a Master Catechist. She loved the ladies in her book club and looked forward to their monthly meetings.
She and Tom were both life members of VFW Post 2600 in San Andreas. Betty regularly attended Ladies Auxiliary meetings and held the position of Secretary for many years.
Among Betty's joys were sewing, crocheting, baking (especially bread), canning, gardening and caring for her beloved roses.
She was an expert seamstress and sewed for her beloved husband, children, most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty touched everyone she met with her kindness, generosity and selflessness. She had an especially soft heart for children.
She didn't mind volunteering when asked and spent many hours of service to the communities where she lived. Putting others needs before her own, she truly enjoyed giving.
She is survived by her husband Tom, children; Jeanette of Bozeman, Montana, Mike (Cathy) of Antioch, Dan of Lathrop, Don (Mary) of Fairfield, her brother-in-law Raymond, 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Jane, her parents and 8 of her siblings.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be announced at some time in the future.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras or VFW Post 2600 in San Andreas.
