On October 22, 2013 at approximately noon, Erika Kaiser (78) of Murphys
was driving a 2005 Lexus eastbound on Hwy 4 at approximately 50 MPH.
Lexie Whiteman (74) of Stockton was driving a 2001 Honda westbound on Hwy 4 at approximately 50 MPH.
For some unknown reason, Kaiser's Lexus traveled to the left of the solid double yellow center line.
Whiteman observed the Lexus entering her lane and swerved to the right in the attempt to avoid the collision, but the Lexus then struck the Honda.
After the collision the Lexus came to rest on its wheels facing in an easterly direction off the roadway, well down the embankment.
The Honda came to rest on its wheels facing in an easterly direction off the roadway. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and the airbags in both vehicles deployed.
Kaiser refused treatment and Whiteman was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center by ambulance. Traffic was controlled in one lane for quite some time.
