While the Bitcoin Corporation testified in front of the US Senate, so-called "purists" are trying to stop any future movement of the internet money from catching hold any more than it already has in the US.Called the "virtual" currency, bitcoins are used by many on the internet already. The Senate just wants to make sure all US laws are followed and taxes paid.
