We found this sketch of the hare jumping over the little fire tree. Thank you, S.T. for your letter. |
Recently someone told me about a story that had been read to them every Christmas when they were a small child.
It wasn't "The Night Before Christmas". It was call "The Fir Tree" and was written by Hans Christian Anderson.
I looked it up on the internet and wept while reading the story of the little tree. This story not only has the moral of being happy with what you have, but also tells the sad story of the forest we should revere.
I suggest to all parents that they find the book and read it to their children at Christmastime, in addition to the other wonderful Christmas stories.
I think this one will affect their lives much more.
Love the Sierra Sentinel. Thank you for listening.
