On December 16, 2013 at around 3:20 PM, CHP states that Marilyn L. Matthews (56) of Milton was driving a 1989 Dodge northbound on Milton Rd just south of Hwy 26 in Milton at an unsafe speed.
As she attempted to negotiate the turn in the roadway, she was unable to negotiate the turn in the roadway and allowed her vehicle to enter the eastbound gravel shoulder.
Per the report, when she entered the gravel shoulder she lost control of the Dodge and collided with a reflector post.
After the collision the Dodge continued in motion and rolled over onto Milton Road. Matthews was flown to Modesto Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
According to CHP on December 16, 2013 Steven Smith (51) of Avery was driving a 1982 Datsun Pickup westbound at 4 PM on Hwy 4 west of Red Tail Hawk Rd. near Avery when his vehicle's tire blew out.
The Datsun then ran off the roadway and collided with a tree. Smith was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Hospital with moderate injuries.
