According to CHP on December 11, 2013 around 5 PM, Lloyd G Eckler (65) of Mountain Ranch was driving east on Mountain Ranch Road at a stated speed of 30 MPH.
He approached a curve in the road and hit a patch of ice and lost control of his 2003 GMC Yukon.
The Yukon crossed over the solid double yellow lines and struck the dirt and rock embankment north of the roadway edge.
His vehicle bounced off and went back across Mountain Ranch Road where it ran off the south roadway edge.
The Yukon then overturned and struck a fence, coming to rest on its wheels. Both Mr. and Mrs. Eckler (the passenger) were transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.
