Jennifer R. Hatten of Mokelumne Hill, passed away on November 28, 2013 at her home. She was
59.
A native of Alameda, her parents were Raynold Riel and Jean (Edler) Riel. She attended Acalanes and Castro Valley High Schools, where she graduated in the top of her class.
Her excellence in academia continued; she earned her B.A. in Art History, Socialogy and Recreation at CSU-Hayward and the University of Toronto.
Married to James Hatten for nearly 32 years, she left a promising career at MGM Studios to become a stay at home wife and mother.
She was a member of MENSA. During her children's formative years, she acted as the Class Mom and Brownie Troop Leader as well as other leadership roles; she was a former Historian at the Mokelumne Hill Library and a Bible study leader.
She was a Christian and a member of the Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene.
Jennifer had many endeavors; a talented artist in a plethora of mediums, she also enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and crafting.
She epitomized integrity, loyalty and joyfulness and was forever encouraging others and always had a smile on her face.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she always put the Lord Jesus above all.
She is survived by her husband James Hatten, daughters Jamie (Kevin) Keil and Jessica (Caleb) Ribeira, granddaughter Olivia Grace Keil, mother Jean Riel, brother Randy Riel, sister Karen (Dan) Oliver and many beloved friends and family members.
She was predeceased by her sister Stephanie Riel, father Ray Riel and step-daughter Teresa Hatten.
A Celebration of Life and reception will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 PM at the Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene, located at 14050 Ridge Road in Sutter Creek.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the American Diabetes Association in her name.
San Andreas Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
