OP-ED: Non-Profits Given Power of Law?

A small non-profit with many wonderful volunteers for the animals of Calaveras County has a Board of Directors who in our opinion, is totally politically motivated and completely unqualified to be a power of the law.

In the Bay Area there are organizations such as the SPCA who run the animal shelters. Their Board members are influential and highly regarded members of the business community.

In Calaveras County this is not the case.  In fact, we can attest that the entire motivation for the Board of Directors of the Calaveras Humane Society, (no relation to any other group) is to be politically active for certain elected officials.

In fact, we have evidence that they would never allow anyone with political agendas who differ from their "pastor" to serve on their board.

This type of little non-profit would have no problem taking care of the animals in the shelter. However, they should NEVER have any law enforcement power.

We have expressed our opinions to the Board of Supervisors, who most likely have no clue what is really going on behind the scenes and to Brian Moss, who used to be over  Animal Services.

How did this happen. I remember this board did not want any law enforcement over them and didn't like being under the Sheriff's department. Are they taking advantage of the Animal department head?

Why do you think the Sheriff got rid of them. They wanted a shelter a LOOONNG way away from any oversight by the county. Now they are worming their way into being their own law. I DONT'T THINK SO!!!

So is the reason they are taking over the animal shelter because callaway is giving them authority over all of us? They are not capable of being good cops.

They have lost sight of what should be their ONLY concern and direction - the animals! Corruptaway (Callaway) should NOT be allowed to proceed with this! Anyone running against her/ this corruption???
