Throw out Calaveras County General Plan Update and start Over?

UPDATE:  Supervisor Chris Wright says that "I thought his report was useful but nothing really new. The biggest challenge from my perspective is how to include the already completed community plans. Something that will have to be worked out as the net planning director comes on board."

At yesterday's, January 28, 2014 Calaveras Supervisors meeting, Brent Harrington, the Interim Planning Director suggested that the General Plan update, over 10 years in the making, and at a cost of 100's of thousands of dollars should be thrown out and they should start all over.

We at the Sentinel have been telling them that for five years. They don't listen. They keep throwing money at it. Calaveras Supervisors and the staff that have overseen this General Plan have had an agenda of their own to please their Enviro friends only. Nothing else!!!

Didn't Callaway and Spellman both vote to add to our debt by giving the old Planning Director even more money and nothing got done? They should both be thrown out.

How could it be any good? It's been a lifetime ago they started it. What a waste of our tax money.

Not hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is in excess of $1.2 million and counting with a potential of an extended time frame to account for all the vacancies.
Will it get better or worse?
One very important part, Mr. Harrington's expressed tally of people who have left during the General Plan process. This county sure sheds employees.

For Mr. Wright, the report was useful but nothing really new.
The report was very useful to the citizens of Calaveras. It provided the potential of time extension and with that goes additional costs. Nothing new? You're right, Mr. Wright, NOTHING NEW!
Do you hear that sound of slow running water? Yep, that's the sound of the flushing of money down the drain.
Mr. Wright are you willing to give up your BOS salary to offset the cost of adding, at this time, D2's community plan, the Wilensky legacy?
