UPDATE: CHP has released the name of the Angels Camp resident who was fatally injured in this accident as Dawn E. Hartwig (44).
On February 6, 2014 at approximately 9 PM Elizabeth Quinn (80) of Angels Camp was driving a 1981 BMW northbound on Rawhide Road, north of French Flat Road in Sonora
at around 40 MPH with a 44 year old female passenger in the front right seat.
A 1998 green Dodge being driven by Neil Lemmon (60) of Salt Lake City, Utah was driving southbound on Rawhide Road, north of French Flat Road at approximately 25 MPH.
A third vehicle, a white 1998 Dodge, driven by David Straub (59) of Jamestown was southbound on Rawhide Road, north of French Flat Road, directly behind the green Dodge.
According to a CHP report, Lemmon and Straub observed Quinn allow her vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines.
Lemmon did not have time to react to the BMW's crossing the double yellow lines. The left front of the BMW collided with the left front of the green Dodge.
Straub applied the brakes of his white Dodge but was not able to stop prior to colliding with the rear of Lemmons' green Dodge.
The driver with major head injuries, and passenger of the BMW were transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center and the passenger in the BMW, who is not yet named pending notification of relatives, succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital.
Lemmon received a laceration to his head and was also transported to the hospital
