Dear Sierra Sentinel:
I know that the reason most of us live here is because we love that we can be near to the animals
that live in the country.
I am so excited because I recently noticed I have a covey of quail (around a dozen or so) who come to eat the bird seed I put out.
Today it is raining constantly and i walked out my back door to see my little covey of quail hovering under our BBQ table to get out of the rain.
Anyone got any ideas on how to provide them with better cover so they can eat seed out of the pouring rain?
Thanks.. J.S. in Copper

The table is probably enough, but my hubby built a lean-to like structure. it took them awhile not to fear it, but I put see under it and now they like it.
At least someone cares about them. You know that Callaway and Steve Wilensky are clear-cutting all the brush for free firewood to burn in their Ione furnace. No wonder the poor quail have no cover anymore.
Glad to see there are a few people still here who care about the critters. Our elected officials are in with SPI!
