On April 3, 2014 at approximately 8:50 PM a red Dodge Ram pickup registered to Daniel Jones of Sonora was traveling on Racetrack Rd at an unknown speed.
For an unknown reason, the driver allowed the pickup to drive off the main traveled portion of the roadway and collide into a tree.
Prior to emergency personnel arrival, the driver was seen fleeing the collision scene, running un West Walnut from Racetrack Rd.
Witnesses described the driver as a younger male approximately 20-25 years old. The immediate area was checked, but the driver was not found, nor did he return to the collision scene.
The investigation into the identity of the driver is on-going. Pending identification of the driver, hit and run charges will be recommended.
