Fatal Traffic Accident in Sonora

UPDATE:  Name of fatality now released by CHP.

On April 5, 2014 around 2:35 PM Joshua Hamricka (32) of Ceres was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang northbound on Hwy 49
at Flume Road in Sonora.

Due to his state of intoxication, according to CHP Hamricka allowed the Mustang to travel off the east side of the roadway.

Hamricka abruptly turned the Mustang to the left and lost control. The Mustang slid across both lanes of Hwy 49 and the right front door of the car  collided with a tree stump located on the west shoulder of the roadway.

The right front passenger, Candice L. Flint (30) of Ceres,  sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hamricka was flown to a Modesto area hospital where he was treated and released, then he was placed under arrest and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail for booking, according to CHP.
