Instead of making them take a chance on the trip from down the river, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife is today trucking 100,000 baby salmon (called smolts) to the Golden Gate to give them a better chance at survival.
The truck trip doesn't seem to bother them. We'll know next year when it's time for them to come home.
