On Wednesday, May 21, 2014 the Gold Country Roasters and Outer Aisle Foods will jointly present a free public educational program about the shade grown coffee movement and the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center's (SMBC) Bird Friendly coffee certification program.
The Bird Friendly designation is the highest ecological sustainability certification that coffee can be awarded.
Coffees that are certified Bird Friendly are organically grown in strict accordance with rigorous standards developed and overseen by the SMBC.
The program seeks to reward growers for their coffee management practices that provide viable quality habitat for native and migratory birds and other wildlife.
The event will take place from 6:30 PM to 9 PM at Outer Aisle Restaurant and Market at 164 Hwy 4 in Murphys. Peruvian coffee will be available for tasting.
