CHP reports that on April 14, 2014 at approximately 1:15 PM Ronald Goldman (48) of Salinas was driving a 2003 Honda Civic northbound on Hwy 49/108 north of Montezuma road in Jamestown
at approximately 55 MPH.
Mr. Goldman reportedly allowed his vehicle to cross into the southbound traffic lane of Hwy 49. In order to avoid a collision with oncoming traffic, Mr. Goldman attempted to take evasive action by steering the vehicle towards the right, but overcorrected.
The vehicle returned to the northbound traffic lane where Mr. Goldman lost control of the vehicle.
Once Mr. Goldman lost control of the vehicle, according to CHP, it traveled back across the northbound traffic lane and into the southbound traffic lane directly in front of a 1986 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Jose Barajas (53) of Chinese Camp.
The vehicles collided head-on and came to rest blocking the roadway. CHP Officer T. Scott came upon the collision scene immediately after the vehicles came to rest and called for an ambulance to respond.
Mr. Barahas was transported to the Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment of his minor injuries (complaint of pain to his body) and Mr. Goldman was subsequently arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
