Jay Joseph Genovese said his final "Goodbyes" to friends and family at his home in Angels Camp
on April 13, 2014.
Born September 21, 1952 in Monterey, to Matteo Genovese and Elizabeth Schwartz, Jay's passions were fishing and food best shared with friends and family and a good helping of laughter.
The adventures of Jay and Susie, his wife and partner of 33 years, took them from the Sierras to the Napa Valley, a cattle ranch in North fork, Nevada, to fishing in Seward, Alaska, to Monterey and back home to the foothills of the Sierras.
He was a "Man to ride the river with"' a good man and a generous friend.
Surviving family members include Jay's father, Matteo Genovese of Salinas; mother Elizabeth Schwartz, sisters Kathleen (Dennis Itani) and Gina Genovese of Vacaville, his favorite brother, Matt Genovese (Charlotte) of Seward, Alaska and Uncle Gerald Mulvey of North Fork, Nevada.
Jay and Susie combined share five children, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His generosity and humor touched everyone he met. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of services, please plant some poppies in a place that will surprise you, make you smile and remember him.
Angels Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
