David William Walter |
Cedar Ridge on a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival the deputies heard what sounded like shots being fired from the suspect, 45 year old
David Walter's residence.
Deputies repeatedly tried to get Walter to exit his residence. He refused their commands but at one point came out onto the porch area.
A sheriff's sergeant utilized his tazer to temporarily disable Walter and he was taken into custody.
Deputies on scene conducted an investigation and determined that Walter, a male, and female acquaintance were "drinking" alcoholic beverages in Walters home.
Walter became upset for an unknown reason and punched the male victim in the face. The male victim, according to the report, returned to his residence located in the same area.
The female victim was still in Walter's home and she reported he touched her inappropriately and threatened to rape her indicating he had a firearm.
Walter then attempted to hit the female in the face, but she was able to flee the residence.
Walter allegedly discharged a firearm inside his residence (when he was alone in the residence) and at least one of his windows was shattered from the gun shot.
Walter was taken into custody on numerous charges and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail. Bail was set at $100,000 and as of 5/23/14 he is still in custody.
Alleged charges are: Attempted Rape, a felony; Obstructing or Resisting an Officer, a felony; Battery, a misdemeanor; Threats, a felony; False Imprisonment, a felony; and Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, a felony.
