On May 16, 2014, according to a press release, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office and the Tuolumne Narcotics Team completed a marijuana eradication project on property adjacent to bureau of Land Management land in the Red Hills Recreation Area.
A total of 4,581 marijuana plants with a street value of $458,100 were seized. The grow was on private property, but apparently the owner was not aware of the activity. No weapons or suspects were located. The plants were destroyed at the site, per the Sheriff's Office.
