Angels Camp Petition against Dogtown Rd plans!

WHAT is wrong with the City of Angels?  Special interests? Favorite developers? Undue influence?  All of the above?

How many places has Angels Camp Planning Director Dave Hanham and the the City of Angels Camp tried to push to help the Mark Twain Hospital Clinic
build a new clinic.

First it was on Hwy 49. Now that made sense. Then they moved to near the Elementary School.  Now they've picked Dogtown Rd.  The Planning Commission in a 3-2 vote approved this.

From what we understand they plan to make Dogtown a one-way road and eliminate access to Gardner Lane.

Many are questioning how much influence developer Dixon Collins, his wife and Anne Forrest have on the City.

Now some angry residents and business owners have signed a petition against building without a full Environmental Impact Report.

If you would like to sign a petition against this idea, go to Calaveras Glass on Hwy 49. There is a petition sheet there.

This city has been fighting against bringing ANY new GOOD jobs and building facilities for that to town. Why are they pushing so hard for this particular facility, which is just moving?

On June 17, 2014 at Bret Harte High School, the City Council has this on their agenda to approve the idea. Do you agree?

If you question it, as we do MOST decisions this council makes, sign the petition and demand a study first. This is not an unreasonable request.

They are proposing a right turn in right turn exit only. When brought to thier attention that this will create drivers making uTurns up ap and down hwy 4 in the driveways of businesses. They proposed a uturn at the light. We informed the that the trucks were not able to make that maneuver. They were shocked to hear thier was truck traffic on dogtown!!! What kind of study would not include that? Anyway after they were informed of this suddenly they just threw out we will use gardner lane as the truck route! No study not even a drive by. At that time aginst opposition by citizens and being cautioned by thier own legal council. ...planning aproves re zone?

when has this City government cared about us in the old part of town. I can't remember.

They like Anne Forst building and those kind, but not good business or residents of old part.

Does this mean they are pro-development now. or does this mean they just hate the old-timers.

Come to Bret Harte theater on June 17 for the meeting.

Let me explain tbe chIn of favors here......

Anne Forester is not Dixon's wife. Dixon is on the planning commision for the CofA. Dixon's wife Kathy sits on the DAC (Destination Angels Camp board). Now how is MTMC in cahoots with this. Well look who also sits on the DAC board, Larry Cornish who is the MTMC V.P. and operations of communications. Favors or just coincidence?

Isn't this an election year for some on the City Council? Maybe a good year for all of Angels to vote them city folk off and out of AC!

Please unincorporate us in Altaville out of the City Limits. You have thoroughly destroyed this town. Come on locals, you don't need money to sit on the city council, just common sense and brains which none on there have.

Which ones are up this year? But first somebody in Altaville needs to run. I agree. We want out of this idiot City. We got screwed when they forced us in.

Anonymous said...

I agree. Let's secede from those creeps. I want the old Altaville back

Anonymous said...

I want to know if its really possible to secede. does anyone know the law. Can we hold a vote and remove ourselves. Remember when they screwed us. They let Angels Camp vote too.

Anonymous said...

they wouldn't let us go easily. They need Altaville for their sales tax base. Let's see. Altaville began just above the City Hall building, didn't it.

I say we massive protest and ask to be set free of the prison that is the City of Angels Camp

Anonymous said...

They don't want to hear anything but what that dufus Hanhammm says.

Altaville was a great town in the old days. Bret Harte High school is officially in Altaville. I'm for secession.

Wasn't it back in 2011 when the City wanted to annex out to Red Hill rd.? Those folks weren't notified, heard word of mouth and came and fought against the annexing. Was this done when they annexed Altaville?

Speaking of notifying the public, has the city notified the residents in the Gardner and Dogtown road areas? I don't recall recieving a notice in the mail and once again was "word of mouth". These flat land council members need to quit hiding their agenda from us. It is still a "small town" but we locals will fight back big.

I think Altaville was done many years ago when there wasn't enough money for the fire department or something. Altaville residents were against it, but they let Angels Camp vote.

Open and honest question for Sentinel readers:
How long do you have to live somewhere to be called a local? And if you were a local somewhere else and moved somewhere new, can you take your stored local "cred" with you?
Or are you pigeon holed to be from another planet if you leave your birth place to live somewhere else in this country?
I'm from San Jose (born in San Diego). An ALL California boy! I live up here now. I've had a place here for 14 years. Lived here permanently the last 5 years. Do I NOT have a say up here, but my word is good in San Jose and/or San Diego?? I'm confused. Please, you locals please explain this "local" phenomenon.
I spend ALL my money up here from tacos to 14 years of property taxes. I can have a say where to get my tacos, BUT can't have a say in where my tax money goes?

Oh, that's funny. I was born and raised here. left to work in San JOse, came back and now I'm not considered a local by my own family. LOL

I don't think this City Council will EVER be fair in their considerations. For awhile it seemed like the old part was favord, when old man Raggio was alive, but now it has swung the other way. Face it, Greenhorn and the old parts do not seem to have any mutual intersts or politics.

Anonymous said...

Either let us out of the incorporation or make the City Council run in districts, so people feel fairly represented. That's the problem.

Anonymous said...

Hanham is part of the problem. He thinks nothing of screwing up people's lives. Look at where he allowed the McDonalds. Should have been on the other end, facing Hwy 4, but NOOOOOO! Had to create a traffic nightmare.

Anonymous said...

o that is sooo true

Anonymous said...

They didn't send any notices out because they don't want to HEAR any NO's.

Everyone that has posted a comment here may want to slow down and get the facts before jumping to conclusions. Most of the comments here are inaccurate and self-serving. Does anyone think about the greater good for the entire community? I encourage everyone to get the facts. Change is coming or Angels Camp will die.

Spoken just like a person who doesn't want it in Greenhorn. I say let's build it right next to the golf course. You hornies bitch and complain of everything, including the 49 bypass going near you. Even got the sphere of influence changed just for you. so shut up. the city doesn't want any of the good JOB creating growth, only trash.

Anonymous said...

I like it. they call us TOWNIES, so now they are HORNIES. lol

Anonymous said...

The division is really the fault of the City Council. They allow the Hornies to control everything. How many are going to the City Council meeting tonite at 6 PM. It's at the firehouse, I think.

Anonymous said...

You're right. Only a Horny would say putting a clinic in OUR neighborhood would be a good thing. What we really need in to divid the city into 5 sections and each councilperson represents and then runs on their performance of taking care of THEIR area or district.

Anonymous said...

I can see here that AC is early to bed and early to rise, at least those who care about politics in this city. I think the City of Altaville sounds great. I'm for making the break.

Anonymous said...

I think David Hanham is the real problem. Maybe a new city council would hire a new planner and cao to make things fair. There are some nice people in Hornytown. But they keep bragging about how much money they have and donate to OUR charities. I get sick of hearing about it.

Anonymous said...

There are some business owners afraid to take a stand on behalf of the old time families. Afraid to lose Greenhornies business.

Anonymous said...

Now be nice. They aren't afraid of losing oldtimers business because they think they have no money anyway. its true.

Anonymous said...

Meeting tonite? Are you sure?
