According to the DA's office, on June 11, 2014, a Calaveras County jury found Robert Walker, 32, guilty of raping a child under the age of ten with two prison priors.
Deputy District Attorney Dana Pfeil prosecuted the case on behalf of the Calaveras County DA's Office.
"The victim was very believable and showed incredible courage in testifying. The jury believed her and I am pleased that justice was served today," Pfeil said.
Sentencing is set for a hearing on July 21, 2014. District Attorney Barbara Yook said: "DDA Pfeil worked very hard to prepare for this trial. The entire team at the DA's Office is very proud of her."
The trial started on June 4, 2014, and lasted five days. "The jury had to listen to some very graphic testimony from the child victim and I am so grateful for their time and efforts," Pfeil said.
The maximum sentence for this crime is twenty-seven years to life in state prison due to the age of the victim and Walker's record.
Walker remains in the Calaveras County jail awaiting sentencing.
