Fatal Accident in Mountain Ranch

   On June 16, 2014 at approximately 3:50 PM, Claudine Fowler (67) of Mountain Ranch was driving her 2010 Dodge eastbound on Mountain Ranch Road.

   Mark Castillo (50) of South San Francisco was driving his 2014 Chrysler westbound on Mountain Ranch Road.

   For unknown reasons (per a witness) Ms. Fowler crossed the solid double yellow line, striking the Chrysler head on.

   There was more than 2' of intrusion to each vehicle, with multiple airbag deployments. Vehicle damage was total to both involved vehicles and they were towed from the scene.

   All three occupants were driven by ambulance to a landing zone in Mountain Ranch where they were flown out by three separate life flight helicopters.

   Ms. Fowler was pronounced deceased shortly after her arrival at Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Mr. Castillo sustained major injuries but is listed in good condition at Doctors Hospital in Modesto.

   The passenger in the Chrysler (Mireille Morris (42) of Santa Ana,) sustained major injuries and is in critical condition at Doctors  Hospital in Modesto.
