According to CHP, on June 19, 2014 around 11;45 AM a 2008 Hyundai, driven by as yet an unknown driver, was traveling westbound on Hwy 120 east of Tulloch Dam Road at a speed
faster than a 2013 Toyota Avalon driven by Shoshone Flores (33) of Modesto.
Ms. Flores observed the Hyundai approach her from the rear, and she began to move from the number one lane into the number two lane so the Hyundai could pass.
As the Toyota began to move from the number one lane into the number two lane, she observed the Hyundai also moving into the number two lane.
Flores remained in the number one lane and the Hyundai began to pass her. As the Hyundai passed the Toyota its left front collided with the right side of the Toyota.
Flores swerved within the number one lane, but was able to regain control of the Toyota and it continued to the right shoulder of Hwy 120 west of the collision scene.
The Hyundai left the roadway to a northwesterly direction, continuing down an embankment where the front of the Hyundai collided with a rock.
The driver of the Hyundai, still unidentified, was transported to Doctors Medical Center by helicopter with major injuries.
