Josefa "Chepa" Coss Vargas was born on July 17, 1943 in Pedernales, Mexico. She was married to Gabriel Vargas on July 6, 1963. They had five children, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Josefa was engaged in a courageous battle against cancer until July 23, 2014, when she finally succumbed to the battle.
Gabriel Vargas (spouse) passed away on January 29, 2011 in Valley Springs.
Josefa's surviving children are Gabriel (Gabe), Cesar and Jose (Joe) Vargas of Valley Springs; Lorena (Lori) Flores of Valley Springs and Ysenia (Jessie) Moore of Galt.
She is also survived by her brothers Belizario Coss of Stockton, Elfido Coss of El Paso, Texas, Francisco Coss of Mandero, Mexico and Hipolito Coss of Chihuahua, Mexico; and sister Guadalupe Silva of Cuauhtémoc, Mexico.
She was predeceased by her brothers Eulalio Coss and Ismael Coss.
Catholic Services will commence on July 29, 2014 with the Rosary at San Andreas Memorial Chapel in San Andreas at 7 PM; Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday July 30, 2014 at 11 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Linden; and Burial following at Jenny Lind Cemetery in Jenny Lind.
