If you watched the Angels Camp City Administrator Michael McHatten refer to his proposed 2014-15 budget as a golf game at their last meeting and then make statements like:
The public is watching this golf game (the fact is, they are more secretive that ever!) and then go on to state what wonderful condition the City is in financially because of his wonderful saintly work, only to end up saying that this condition is not fiscally sustainable.
If you watch the meetings and study the agenda packets, you know what we are talking about.
We even hear the County of Calaveras requested that the City of Angels Camp pay more towards their share of the lease of the library on Hwy 49, since he says they are doing so well, but McHatten rejected the idea. Hmmmm.
Meeting after meeting, he brings items to the council about GOATS, and Resolutions to help his or a Councilman's FRIENDS; and is then rejected after causing hours and hours of wasted time and taxpayer money, not to mention bringing about legal questions.
He gets along with everyone he plays golf with, is the word around town, but only likes the press when they are so stupid as to agree with everything he says, like "well, putt!
The Sentinel is sure that most of the Angels Camp City Council fits into this category, so they will most likely keep their "golf partner" for yet another year, wasting our tax money.
He is supposedly being given a private evaluation for his "golf game" at this Tuesday's Council meeting. The Copperopolis Fire District and the Calaveras Sheriff's Office is assisting CAl Fire.

McHatten and the Council are doing a pretty good job overall. While most government bodies are broke, Angels is making it. Costs are being controlled. Not much he or they can do with little money to go crazy with. The test will come when revenues return. Then let's see how the money is handled.
