Ester J. Phillips of West Point passed away at her home on August 10, 2014. She was 96.
A native of San Diego, she was born
on February 2, 1918 to Francisco Jimenez and Dolores Torres Jimenez.
She was married to Ellsworth James "Budgie" Phillips, was a forklift driver for Consolidated
Aircraft in San Diego during WWII, a telephone operator in Martinez, a nurses aide, and co-owner of the Timberwolf Club in West Point from 1971 - 2004.
She was a member and officer of the California Practical Nurses Association in the 1960's, and was affiliated with the First Baptist church in Martinez.
She loved to play ukulele, piano and loved to sing. She sang and played piano very well up to 2 and a half years before passing, and loved the Beatles, Rolling Stones and blues
She is survived by her children Anthony M. Powell of West Point, Allen Bellomy of West Point, Shirley Jo Nash of Santa Maria, Shirley Casey of West Point, Evelyn Creamers of West Point, Else Cavagnario of Stockton, grandchildren Donald West of San Jose, Ronald West of Antioch, Annette Freed of San Jose, Keith Casey of West Point, Dane Casey of West Point and Gina Ann Powell Maxwell of Concord.
She was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth James "Budgie" Phillips, brothers Peter Moses Jimenez, sisters Marry Mayo and Paquita Giseclair, grandsons Warren and Richard West, parents Francisco and Dolores Jimenez and Friend Alice Blankenship.
Services will be held at a later date. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
