We are very aware that the Calaveras Sheriff hides many burglaries from the public and the press. In some cases it is because the business owner requests it. They release a list for the public each day, and in many cases, burglaries that we know of, are not included.
But in most cases it is because the Sheriff is embarrassed that he has no ability or true desire to stop the burglaries that are occurring and would rather not have the public know about them? We are currently investigating this problem, along with the many others at the Sheriff's Office.
