UPDATE: To repeat, the Sierra Sentinel does not take comments from racists, dirty cops or gun thugs. It seems that one of them, at least is bragging that Sheriff Kuntz protects them.
Since we have been covering crime and reporting on both the Calaveras Sheriff's Department and the Angels Camp Police Department, we have noticed a marked difference.
When you email or call the Angels Police Department for information about an arrest or a booking photo, they respond immediately, as the public should expect.
When you try, and we say TRY to get information out of the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, whether a booking photo or other information, you get the run around, your emails are ignored or other garbage.
They refuse booking photos until "the DA presses charges" and we do quote. And then NEVER do you hear from them again.
How Sheriff Kuntz ever got re-elected is beyond our belief. They hide things from the public, protect their Candyrock gun thug friends, not to mention the dirty cops.
They do not protect women, and in fact do everything they can to cover for the abuse that women suffer from their Candyrock gun thug friends; you would not believe the stories we've heard.
They even seem to like to arrest women, much more than the real crooks; their personal buddies. The California State Attorney General needs to get a thorough investigation going on Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.
Why do they get away with this illicit and disgusting behavior? Because just like in Ferguson, Missouri and all across this country "Cops police COPS!!!"
We want to thank the Angels Camp Police Department and Chief Todd Fordahl for his attitude and although we hear some complaints from residents, and we have experienced anti-women behavior, his attempt to make things better here in his corner of Calaveras County is appreciated.

I thought Kuntz would try to improve his image after getting re-elected, but apparently he doesn't care. It goes right down the line of his employees, you know.
If he didn't try while he was running, he's certainly not going to change now. and he's got some low quality people out in the field, sad, but true. Calaveras doesn't get the best. They go to CHP and bigger cities.
Not only has he not tried to clean up his act, but he is trying to get that Tea Party guy Olive ass elected to hurt Callaway in Dist 3. Doesn't care what he has to do either.
I heard that Kuntz regrets getting involved with the lunatic element in EP, but doesn't know how to make it good now.
All the talk about Spellman being a nut case in Rancho; seems like Ebbetts Pass is the place with the real racists and gun kooks!
this makes me laugh. this morning I heard that the gun kooks tried to hurt a business that hated Mr. Tea Party Mustache, as you call him.
They actually helped that business, because people can't stand those no goods!lol
