Per CHP, on August 3, 2014 at approximately 6:45 PM Eric Hinton (19) of Lodi was driving a 2003 Ford Escape on Hwy 49 just south of Carol Kennedy Drive, near the airport, at a speed greater than 55 MPH.
For unknown reasons Hinton allowed the Ford to travel to the right, where the right tires collided with the raised asphalt curb.
After the impact with the curb, the Ford traveled down the embankment where it collided with multiple trees and a wooden power pole.
As a result of the impact with the power pole, the ford overturned 1 1/2 times and came to rest on its roof.
All parties were able to exit the vehicle on their own and wait for emergency personnel. Hinton received minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.
His passengers: Ruby Marquez (18) of Lodi, was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center with moderate injuries, Jacob Westerback (20) of Lodi received minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital, and Niccolas Calderon (18) of Lodi received minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
Alcohol and drugs were not determined to be a factor in this collision, according to CHP.
