Vernon Roy DeValle of Angels Camp

   Vernon Roy DeValle passed away peacefully at home in Angels Camp with his family by his side August 4, 2014. He was 81.


   Born to Tony and Babe DeValle in Niles on September 11, 1932, he was raised in Newark and worked with his parents on their dairy farm.   Vern served in the US Army from 1955-1957.

   He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Gilmour of Oakland, and his six children; Guy (Angela), Susan (Bob) Middleton, Julie (Jeff) Brunson, Clay (Amanda) DeValle, Adam (Julie) DeValle and Holly (Perry) Whittle.

   Vern is also survived by his sister Charlotte (Ralph) Sarmento, niece Sandy (Steve) Fields and cousin Randy (Wanda) DeValle.

   Vern and Beth moved to Angels Camp in 1973 where he was a partner in Elko Drywall, Tillery's Drywall and DeValle and Sons Drywall and Insulation.

   They retired in 2001 and Vern remained active as a founding member of Calaveras County Livestock boosters, 4H, FFA, See's Candy and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

    Vern's passion was spending time with his family and he rarely missed his children or 16 grandchildren or 2 great-grandchildren's activities.

   Vern will be remembered for his integrity, honesty, work ethic and million dollar smile.

   Viewing will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Angels Memorial Chapel from 1 to 6 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM.

   A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp at 11 AM. A reception will follow in the church hall.

   Donations can be made to Friends of the Fair in Vern's name at P.O. Box 565 Angels Camp, CA 95222.

    Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
