Stephen C. Daugherty, Jr. passed away of natural causes on August 14, 2014. He was 91 years old.A resident of San Andreas for 18 years, Steve was born July 26, 1923 in Snyder, Texas.
He enlisted in the Marine Corp November of 1942, qualified for Marksman and Sharpshooter and was trained in Communications.
He served in the Pacific Arena with the 2nd Marine Division. He saw action at Tianan, Saipan and Tarawa.
He was honorably discharged in January of 1945, whereupon he settled in the Oakland East Bay Area. He married and raised 4 sons.
He later moved to Los Angeles - Orange County and eventually retired to Grass Valley.
Steve was an auto mechanic by trade, outdoorsman, hunter and an avid gun collector/enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his father Stephen, Sr, mother Evelyn, step-mother Carolyn, sister Catherine, former wife Mary Ellen, sons Stephen and Dennis.
He is survived by his sons Tim (Elizabeth) and Michael (Mary Ann), nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.
His ashes will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery in Southern California. Steve will be sadly missed by family, friends and neighbors.
San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
