Letter to the Editor: Regarding Paul Stein

   Dear Editor:

I was quite disturbed with the article and letter in last Friday's ********** related to Paul Stein. It seems dirty tricks are once again evident in Calaveras politics.

Why can't people just stick to the issues rather than attack their opponent?  Some might say the problems concerning the sale of the sale of the fish hatchery reflect Stein's credibility, but let me point out that the sale was successfully resolved to the satisfaction of both parties; otherwise it would still be an active lawsuit.

Before we're quick to judge let's be sure we've considered all of the points.  The article, suggested that there was foreknowledge regarding the disease afflicting the fish.

From what I know whirling disease was considered a non-issue until F&G arbitrarily changed their ruling.  Stein was left holding the bag.

To level the playing field, let's put Paul's opponent n the spotlight for a moment.  Terry Strange has been feeding at the public trough for years.

He leveraged his position as a publicly funded watershed coordinator for the Foothill Conservancy into a lucrative consultant business.

It's common knowledge that when he quit his position he left the public watershed project in a shambles.

And while he was representing the interests of the public as a watershed coordinator, he was part of the dog-and-pony show that attempted to push a dubious development project in the Wallace Lakes area which was rejected by the Board of Supervisors.

Finally, Terry Strange has not filed his FPPC 460 pre-election report which allows the public to scrutinize how he is financing his campaign and how he is spending his money.

This is a blatant disregard for the political process meant to level the playing field.

We need to put petty politics aside in order to determine who will be the best candidate for a particular position.

We really don't need a pseudo expert in water management and water resources.  CCWD spends hundreds of thousands of dollars a year securing this service for the people of Calaveras County.

We need an expert who knows how to walk the halls of the California Legislature and Congress and represent our interests.

We need someone who can talk the complex issues of water politics and has the connections to carry that conversation to the right folks.

I believe that person is Paul Stein.

West Point Community to elect Paul Stein

Come on. Everyone knows its the Wilensky crooked union machine. The guy's name isn't Strange for nothing.

I'm a union member and I want a union person to help me get more raises.

Isn't Strange the strange guy who had a sordid affair with a certain Supervisor, who then lost her husband as a result?

Strange isn't a water guy. He's a union guy. He's a wilenskyite

And then I think she went on to lose her re-election, true or not?

You know Strange had to make a deal to raise rates and give a big raise to the employees in trade for wilensky helping him.

Terry Strange worked as a watershed coordinator for Central Sierra Resource and Development, Inc, not Foothill Conservancy.
