OP-ED....Clear-Cutters Should Pay!!

No water left! No wildlife
left!  Nothing but
devastation left!

    If you have ever Googled the Sierra Nevada Mountains from the air, you know the devastation that clear-cut logging is doing to add to global warming, the destruction of wildlife habitat and water retention.


  This is about the greed of logging companies like Red Emmerson's Sierra Pacific Industries.  Why do they get 12,000 gallons of water a day free from San Antonio Creek FREE?

   Why is it harder for a homeowner/contractor to get permits passed to build one home in Calaveras County than it is for SPI to CLEAR-CUT 20 acres of land?  And why don't they have to pay anything for their greed?

   There should be a LUXURY tax on every single tree cut in the Sierra Nevada mountains!  SPI should have to pay an additional tax for fire protection to Cal Fire for their negligence.

   Why do they get away with paying NOTHING to Calaveras County for the unbelievable and horrendous ruin they cause?  Political pay-offs?  To whom?  Do we vote for these who accept lobby money to make their families richer? 

   THIS MUST END!!  This is more than private property rights. If you pay attention, you know that WE, who own just a small parcel, are under much stricter rules for what we can do, than anything SPI does to our forests.  THROW THE BUMS OUT!!
