According to the CHP report, on December 24, 2014 at approximately 11 AM a Ford Bronco was stolen from Tractor Supply in Sonora.
At approximately 1 PM the Communications Center received a call of a citizen following the stolen Bronco westbound on Hwy 108 near Jamestown.
CHP officers responded to attempt to locate the vehicle. The Bronco turned northbound on OByrnes Ferry Rd.
CHP officers caught up to the Bronco as it turned eastbound on Hwy 4. A pursuit ensued into the city of Angels Camp.
An Angels Camp Police Officer attempted to stop the vehicle with a spike strip but the Bronco was able to drive around the strip.
The Bronco turned southbound on Hwy 49 and then eastbound on Raspberry Lane. The Bronco then entered the Veteran's Hal parking lot and intentionally rammed a chain link fence in an attempt to evade officers.
Both occupants of the Bronco fled on foot. The passenger was immediately captured. The driver was located hiding in berry bushes by an Angels Camp Police K-9 and was taken into custody without further incident.
Leslie Hay (24) of Sonora, was arrested for alleged 10851(a), Unlawful taking or driving of a motor vehicle VC, 496(a) Receiving Stolen Property, and 594(a) PC Vandalism.
