UPDATE on January 6, 2015: Still no response from CCWD as to why they are having this workshop AFTER they voted to approve the clear-cutting requested by Supervisor Edson and Wright, disguised as fire prevention.
This is really the two of them selling out to SPI and Congressman McClintock and his Tea Party bunch, and CCWD has bought into it.
UPDATE on January 5, 2015: This morning we received an email from Metzger, saying he had no idea what our question was. Let's see this is since December 30, 2014.
Do they not want anyone in the Mokelumne Hill area to know that it has already been decided
for them, no matter what they want?
We are aware that Don Stump ALWAYS responded to our questions, not afraid of answering either to the press or to ratepayers. What kind of change has happened at CCWD? Bertha Underhill still has not responded, and we have several accounts we pay through the nose to in her district.
Mr. Mills indicates everyone needs to bow down to him, now that he is elected. His predecessor always helped with questions and was very open with everything we asked.
UPDATE on January 2, 2015: As of this morning, we still have not received an answer to our questions about why they are scheduling a Workshop AFTER they already voted for their plan to clear-cut more and more of our land.
The wildlife will have no chance if they go through with this. The only people that benefit, as we see it, is East Bay Municipal Utility District and other big water companies.
UPDATE December 31, 2014 at 10 AM: We received one response from CCWD Director Mills. All it said was that questions need to be sent to Metzger, who is NOT a Board member.
What are these directors afraid of, hiding behind a subordinate employee???
UPDATE at 10:10 AM: We have not yet heard back from CCWD, but if you go to Mokelumne Hill Watershed, you will find that their idea matches nearly exactly with the East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD) idea to get more water cheaply from the Mokelumne River. Coincidence? Maybe not!
Breaking News UPDATE: We just learned that the workshop is being run by Rainwater Associates, out of Oakland, a consulting firm hired to resolve conflict in the way the organization has decided it wants it resolved.
Now why would an Oakland firm be so interested in getting out watershed cut down? Couldn't mean more water for the Bay Area, could it. Chris Wright and Cliff Edson are specifically responsible for this program. Are they both dumb hicks to fall for this con?
Does this have NOTHING to do with fire control and everything to do with giving Corporate farmers and big cities water districts more of our water for NOTHING? Hmmm! Do they truly believe we are hicks out here in the tulies and can be brainwashed into believing their con?
On Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 7 to 9 PM the Calaveras County Water District will hold a workshop in their Boardroom at 120 Toma Court in San Andreas.
********
The program states that it is "your watershed, your future, your voice matters". We are a little confused since the first action taken by the new CCWD Board was to vote to allow Cliff Edson and Chris Wright to clear-cut the entire area, both in Ebbetts Pass and in District 2
We have requested information from Chair Bertha Underhill and will publish her response. It does seem that this is a lot like the rate increases. That was already decided before they held workshops around the county.
Oh, yeah! Refreshments will be provided!

When did they vote? Is this that Edson plan? Why do elected officials continuously sell us down the river, literally?
Maybe its cuz they only get paid for meetings. not dealing with ratepayers. sad, but true. new board, no communicating?
Great post! Aren't these the people who ran against the last Board members who raised the rates on us?
it kinda sounds like they don't know what to say.
Bertha ljust isn't smart enough to be a director. she's like edsen, being manifpulated by McClintock and EBMUD>
After I read that oped about john muir, I knew how stupid people are and can be manipulated to give the big cities and corporate farmers..our water. WE ARE HICKS!!
