We received another press release from the U.S. Forest Service in Sonora that the Summit Ranger District will conduct a low-intensity prescribed (control) burn on 1,186 acres of forested land, when weather conditions line up advantageously. This is within the Stanislaus National Forest.
"Approximately 75 acres will be ignited daily when conditions align to allow for a successful understory burn," said District Fire Manager Greg Marfil. "Ignitions are linked to favorable weather, fuel moisture levels and air quality factors."
Dry Meadow and Beardsley Lake areas are included in these burns. They are asking the public not to report them as wildland fires.
