According to CHP, on February 8, 2015 around 9 PM Reanna Barnes (34) of Pioneer was driving a 2001 Dodge westbound on Hwy 26, west of Niderost Lane in West Point at a speed greater
than 35 MPH.
At this time there was neavy rainfall, and visibility was limited. Barnes related there was a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction and she was temporarily blinded due to the rain and the vehicles' headlights.
Barnes related that the Dodge began to pull to the right and she wasn't able to correct the path of travel. Barnes traveled off the paved portion of the roadway where the Dodge collided with a wooden post, a metal mailbox and a tree, prior to coming to rest.
Drugs/Alcohol were not a contributing factor in this collision, per CHP. Matthew Barnes (16) of Pioneer, a passenger in the Dodge, was transported to Sutter Amador Hospital with major injuries.
Another passenger Cody Barnes (14), also a passenger in the Dodge, received minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.
The driver was not injured.
