According to CHP on March 13, 2015 at around 4:25 PM Kazimiez Janka (90) of Twain Harte was driving a 2004 Audi eastbound on Hwy 108.
The Audi was stopped in the left turn lane to turn onto Twain Harte Drive East in Twain Harte. At the same time Lisa D. Sandbert (44) of Pinecrest was driving a 2004 Chevy Suburban westbound odecided08 in the # 1 lane at approximately 45 MPH approaching the Audi's location.
For an unknown reason Janka decided to make a left turn at a slow speed, onto Twain Harte Drive east, directly a short distance in front of the Chevy.
Sandberg observed Janka making a left turn a short distance ahead of her vehicle, applied her brakes, but was unable to stop the Suburban in time.
The front bumper of the Suburban collided with the right passenger door of the Audi. both vehicles came to rest partially blocking the intersection of westbound Hwy 108 and Twain Harte Drive East.
Celea Janka (84) of Twain Harte, the passenger in the Audi, was flown to Memorial Modesto but succumbed to severe bodily trauma.
Kazimierz Janka suffered a minor laceration to his right hand. Lisa Sandberg complained of pain to her legs. Her passenger, a 10 year old child, was not injured.
Alcohol was determined NOT to be a factor in this collision, per CHP.
