According to CHP on March 5, 2015 at 11:25 AM Will Stine (21) of Forest Meadows was driving a 2003 Toyota west on Hwy 4 east of Red Tail Hawk Drive in Avery.
Stine turned left into a parking lot in front of Joel Barnett (61) of Bear Valley's Toyota Tundra.
Barnett braked, but was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. Barnett's Tundra collided with Stine's Toyota broadside.
This collision appears to have been caused by a right-of-way violation. Neither speed nor alcohol are factors, per CHP.
This case remains under investigation. Stine was transported to Modesto Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Barnett suffered minor injuries, but was not transported.
