Due to the Special Meeting that the Calaveras Supervisors called to vote for AB 142, we heard a Tuolumne County Supervisor talk about the Rim Fire.He said that while he is proud of the Tuolumne River in their county being Wild and Scenic, the USFS was unable to drop retardant on the fire early on due to rules about NO RETARDANT near any streams that flow into the Tuolumne River.
That explains why the hunter may get out of trouble since it appeared that the USFS was allowing the fire to get out of control instead of using bombers to put it out in its early stages. OMG!!
