The Moonlight Fire in 2007 destroyed great expanses of the Plumas National Forest after being started on Labor Day that year.
The government took SPI, the giant clear-cutting
wood company, to court and won a $100 million award, finding that the company's actions started the inferno that destroyed over 65,000 acres.
Since that day, SPI has been appealing and appealing the case, actually accusing the Federal Court prosecutors of misconduct.
On Friday the US District Court Judge said in a 63 page ruling, that SPI has not proved its claim and rejected the appeal.
