According to CHP on April 13, 2015 around 5:34 PM Aaron Pingree (46) of Sonora was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 eastbound on Phoenix Lake Road at approximately 25-30 MPH.
Nicholas Landuyt (27) of Sonora was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Phoenix Lake Road at approximately 30-35 MPH, approaching the GMC.
As Landuyt came around a right hand curve he began to feel the motorcycle's rear tire slipping and applied the brakes.
Landuyt was unable to negotiate the curve and allowed the motorcycle to travel over the solid double yellow lines and directly into the path of the GMC.
Subsequently the motorcycle struck the front end of the GMC. Landuyt was ejected over the motorcycles' handle bars and rolled over the hood of the GMC, landing on the dirt shoulder to the right of the GMC.
The motorcycle careened off of the GMC and came to rest on its left side over the south roadway edge line of Phoenix Lake Road.
Landuyt had abrasions and small lacerations but declined an ambulance. The driver of the GMC was not injured.
