According to a CHP report, on May 28, 2015 at approximately 12:10 PM a resident of Tucson, Arizona (no name given) was driving a 2012 ford F150 westbound on Hwy 108 near Wheeler Road in Miwuk Village.
Another driver, (86) from Sonora, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Hwy 108 behind the Ford.
The driver of the Ford pulled to the north shoulder of the roadway. The driver of the Chevrolet was passing when the driver of the Ford attempted to make a U-turn.The left side of the Ford collided with the right side of the Chevrolet.
This collision propelled the Chevrolet in a northwesterly direction, off the roadway and to collide with a bunch of trees.
The right front passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
A tow truck was requested for the Chevrolet. While the tow operator was preparing the Chevrolet for towing, the Chevrolet driver sat in the tow truck.
The tow truck driver suddenly noticed the driver slumped over. a CHP officer, an off-duty firefighter and the tow operator began CPR and medical personnel responded to the scene.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The name is being withheld for notification of next of kin.
Alcohol and or drugs are not believe to be a factor in this collision.
